Opt-in Option – AutomateWoo Workflow Email isn’t sent

Summary

I’ve got a report from a user whose AutomateWoo workflow email wasn’t sent to specific customers.

In the note it says: “Send Email: The recipient has not opted in to this workflow.”

What caused this

It turns out that most likely those specific customers, didn’t opt-in, checking Yes to the marketing content checkbox during the checkout.

  • I checked the workflow setting, it’s not set as transactional email, which means the email was sent was a marketing email: https://d.pr/i/mcemeE
  • I checked the AutomateWoo setting on the site, under Marketing opt-in, Customer opt-in mode was selected as Opt-in. This means non-transactional emails will be sent ONLY if the customers check the above.

The Solution

To avoid this problem to ensure a workflow email is sent, you need to make sure the following:

  • Change the option from Opt-in to Opt-out. This will ensure that all the customers who have purchased products on site, by default, will get marketing emails through follow-up workflows, unless they unsubscribe.
  • Then to remedy the affected customer, who didn’t get workflow email, you can go to WP Admin > AutomateWoo > Logs, click on the eye icon for the failed ones, and re-execute the workflow:
